
A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday has declared the N800 billion 2024 budget that Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State had signed into law void.
Recall that the Governor had brought a N800 billion 2024 Appropriations Bill before four members of the state House of Assembly in December.
Fubara signed the budget into law after the lawmakers passed it.
The Rivers Assembly split apart following the 27 members who supported former governor Nyesom Wike moved to impeach Fubara,
However , the actions of the four lawmakers were deemed void by the sitting judge, James Omotosho.
Omotoso said, “The purported sitting of Ehie and four other lawmakers who sat to pass the budget of the state is null and void.
“The order seeking to set aside the Appreciation Bill signed by the governor despite an interim order is hereby granted.”
He then ordered the governor to re-present the budget to the legally constituted House of Assembly led by Amaewhule
