Police arraigns 4 friends for fighting, beating customer inside beer parlour in Osun

The Osun state police command, has dragged four friends to the Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly engaging in fight and beating a customer at a beer parlour.

The defendants, Micheal Abayomi, Abdulgafar Opeyemi, Opadotun Taiwo and Azeez Abiodun, were were arraigned on a five-count charge bothering around conspiracy, assault, malicious damage, breach of peace and stealing.

The prosecutor, Jacob Akintunde, alleged that the defendants committed the alleged crime on August 3, 2024 around 9pm at Iyana Camp area, Osogbo.

Akintunde alleged that the defendants beat up one Nurudeen Gazali ‘M” and inflicted injury on his head and right hand, and also damaged four chairs, four creates of beer and glass plates which all valued N46,000, property of one Owonikoko Ganiyat.

The prosecutor alleged further that the defendants stole gold wrist watch valued N160,000, property of one Habbib Abiodun, and thereby committed offenses contrary to and punishable under sections 516, 355,451, 249(D) and 390(9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the offences and their counsel, Olatunbosun Oladipupo, urged the court to grant them bail in the most liberal term.

Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 and one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the matter to September 9, 2024 for hearing.
