In Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, two retired soldiers and two other people were taken into custody by hunters following a robbery of a steel manufacturing.
According to information obtained, they were captured at Steel Rolling Plc’s facilities with a revolver and two vehicles filled with irons they had stolen by members from the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service.
A top security source said: “Two of the suspects are retired soldiers. They had access to the compound and they worked with two other suspects who were believed to be buyers of the stolen items.
“The two suspects that had access to the premises were the ones armed with weapons that stole irons and planned selling them to the other suspects.
“They have evacuated the stolen iron about six kilometres away from the premises of the company to an uncompleted building in Alabameta Area, Osogbo where they were arrested by hunters and handed over to the police.”
It was gathered that the spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying: “Our men arrested them and investigation is ongoing. I can’t say who they are yet. But we won’t allow criminals hide in any part of the state.”
