A leading chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Orolu Local Government, Prince Jide Akinyooye, has said governance with the fear of God, embraced by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, was a motivation for him to join the race.

Osun State Independent Electoral Commission has fixed February 22, 2025 for the next local government elections in the state.

Akinyooye, a chartered accountant, who rose to the post of manager at Sterling Assurance before he quit the job in 2017, when he returned home and supported Adeleke’s first attempt at Osun Governorship, spoke at a birthday celebration of Otunba Jacob Oyegoke, held in Osogbo.

Speaking further at the event, attended by the Yeyeluwa Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, Hon. Hauwa Folake Ahmed; Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Osun State on Energy, and Hon. Lukman Afolabi (aka Abere-Soose) the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Ede South Local Government, among others, Akinyooye said Governor Adeleke has surpassed people’s expectations with many developmental projects embarked on by the administration.

According to him, Governor Adeleke’s performance has raised standard of governance very high, adding that only tested professionals with sound knowledge of grassroots needs should be considered for the job of Orolu local government chairman.

“We have good idea of the needs of the people of Ifon Orolu. We live among them. I am a core professional with strong link to my community.

“More importantly, Governor Adeleke has raised bar of governance so high that only the tested people should be allowed to run council areas.

“My motivation to join the race is coming from the excellence in governance that Governor Adeleke has displayed with his achievements in less than 2 years.

“I want to replicate Governor Adeleke’s feat in Orolu Local Government and make living more bearable for them.

“We have our action plan already in place. When elected, critical areas of needs of the residents would be addressed and I believe, in few months, people would see major difference.”
