On Saturday, the city of Osogbo observed a historic milestone with the 60th birthday and retirement of Dr. Adeniji Oginni, capping an extraordinary career spanning several decades.
The departing Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for Control of AIDS is Dr. Adeniyi Samuel Oginni. who was only deployed to the agency around half a year ago. He was the pioneer executive secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, O’HIS, and served in that capacity for 5 years.
Dr. Oginni’s extraordinary achievements in the medical sector and his community were honored at the dual celebration, which was attended by family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.
Well-known for his knowledge, kindness, and commitment, Dr. Oginni is a respected doctor who has supported the Osogbo medical community for many years.
Throughout his career, he has been a key figure in the advancement of healthcare services, the mentoring of upcoming experts, and the promotion of better medical procedures. With his retirement, an era comes to an end, but a legacy that will inspire generations to come is born.
At the Atlantics Civic Center in Osogbo, there were many heartfelt speeches, presents, and awards given during the celebration. Colleagues related countless tales of Dr. Oginni’s influence, ranging from his unwavering quest for medical perfection to his life-saving procedures.
Dr. Oginni conveyed his excitement for the upcoming chapter of his life, which he plans to devote to charitable activities and spending more time with his family, as well as his gratitude for the support he has had throughout his career.
The community is always thankful to Dr. Oginni for his steadfast work and dedication, even as the civil service bids him farewell in his official role. His lasting impact on many people’s hearts will surely come from his legacy as a devoted mentor and kind healer.
Speaking at the event, the wife of the celebrant, Mrs. Oginni, thanked God for protecting her husband throughout his service as a civil servant, adding that he retired unharmed.
In her words, “My husband is a man of God, and God didn’t allow the enemy to rejoice over him. I want to thank God for the life of my husband.
“Despite different attempts by enemies, to the glory of God, my husband is retiring from the civil service unharmed.”
Also, Adebayo Oginni, in his remarks, revealed the role the celebrant played in making him a better person, noting that the celebrant is the reason why he doesn’t smoke.
He narrated, “Let me use this opportunity to say this today: Dr. Oginni is the reason why I don’t smoke.
“I was going out one day, and I saw a packet of cigarettes on the floor. On getting home, I lit it, and a Dr. came in, and on perceiving the smell of the cigarette, he beat me, told me the danger surrounding it, and advised me.
“Ever since, I have never tasted a cigarette.”
Additionally, many people who have benefited from Dr. Oginni, in different ways, which include free treatment, sponsorship of their children in school, and free consultation, among others, have narrated how he has played important roles in their lives.
However, the Chief Executive Officer, PrimusXpression Concept, Olojede Muyiwa, held that Dr. Oginni as a perfect example of what a civil servant should be, stressing that Dr. Oginni despite his highly prominent and influential status his always welcomes everyone irrespective of their status.
