The Educational Summit organized by the Office of Miss Akoraye was a mixture of finesse and quality substance as speakers at the event did justice to topics bothering around entrepreneurship and academics, creating a mentorship link for youths and students within Modakeke.
The Summit which was well-attended with the Modakeke Township hall filled to a brim started with a Debate Competition among fourteen participating schools had a student of Royal Comprehensive High School, Ayoola Peace as the ultimate winner, with Our Lady’s Girls’ High School’s Afolabi Mariam and Modakeke Baptist High School’s Adebayo Christianah as first and second runner-ups.
In an announcement of results that took place just before the end of the programme, schools were also graded in line with aggregate scores from the two speakers representing each school. This had Our Lady’s Girls’ High School, Modakeke Baptist High School, and Royal Comprehensive High School as first, second and third positions respectively.
While speaking to participants, the former Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Development Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Isaac Oluwajoba Abereijo counseled students on steps to take over the entrepreneurial world, despite being students. Also, a Researcher/Consultant in the Natural History Museum, Dr. Oyeseyi Oyelade counselled students on academic career choices and scholarship applications. Mr. Ojewale Timileyin also spoke to participants on various opportunities lurking around today’s digital world.
Also, the Project Planning and Implementation Head, Hon. John Oyebanji lauded the wonderful job the planning team did in putting up a beautiful and well-attended outing within the space of three weeks.
Additionally, the House of Akoraye’s Coordinator, Mr. Sunmibola Tope gave a brief background to the work done in the initiatives, over the years.
Other dignitaries at the event include the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba (Dr.) Joseph Toriola represented by the Maye, Chief Olubunmi Toriola alongside other dignitaries, Alhaji (Dr.) Fatai Kolawole, MPU National Education Committee’s Chairman, Pa B.A. Akinleye, Executive Chairman, World Institute for Peace, Chief Lamina Kamiludeen, among others.
