Saudi Arabia announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Thursday, signaling the start of the 12th Islamic month.
As a result, tomorrow will mark the beginning of this holy month.
The Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH-2024 will commence on Friday, June 14, with the Day of Arafah occurring on Saturday, June 15. Consequently, Eid Al-Adha, the biggest Muslim festival, will be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The Saudi Supreme Court had previously called on Muslims across the Kingdom to participate in the crescent moon sighting to determine the start of Dhu Al Hijjah and the dates of the associated religious events.
Eid Al-Adha, celebrated on the 10th of Dhu Al Hijjah, is the second major Islamic festival after Eid-ul-Fitr.
This significant day is observed by Muslims worldwide and involves special prayers and rituals commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
