The United States Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, has given an update into the air crash that claimed the life of Herbert Wigwe, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Access Holdings Plc.

FAA revealed that it will be part of the investigations into the air mishap that claimed Wigwe’s life.

FACTUAL NEWS NG reports that Wigwe, his wife, son and three others were onboard the chopper when it crashed in California near the Nevada border.

It was also stated that Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), was inside the helicopter.

According to the FAA, the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter went down on Saturday at 7 a.m. Nigerian time, or around 10 p.m. California time.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will oversee the inquiry and give any updates, according to the FAA.

The chopper took off from Palm Springs, according to US local news station KTLA 5 News, however it was unclear where it was going.

While one of the choppers had Wigwe and his family on board, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Wigwe’s business partner and former Access bank CEO, and Tunde Folawiyo, business mogul, were reportedly aboard the second chopper.

However, the management of Access Bank is yet to officially announce the death of its owner.

In a statement late Saturday, the bank said, “We have received numerous inquiries concerning an airplane crash in the USA. Presently, we lack specific information; however, we are actively collaborating with US authorities who will furnish updates.

“Your understanding and support are valued, and we commit to keeping you informed promptly as we receive updates on the situation,” the bank noted.
